yes, it's a nice metaphor/image, also ethan talks a lot about this in his book, as "bridge figures", etc., and reminds me of The Well, the birthplace of online community movement in late '80, it could really develop in something similar but more challenging and at a global level....

mmmm....too flat and unexciting, sorry ;) it's even confusing (as in "our voices" above): somehow they both imply that the "normal" GV coverage doesn't reflect GVer views/voices, which for an external/foreign reader could be a bit or a lot weird and we need to further explain (even if for us internally could make some sense)

mmm...sorry, i do not see this as "a sort of monologue" but actually quite the opposite: it should inspire further comments, expand conversation, maybe get people mad and write a rebuttal, more posts, etc., no? ;)

if we really want to put in place an editorial training program of course more specific ideas, discussion and place are needed, but a starting point could be to lay down some (as clear and specific as possible) guidelines that each author should follow and editors enforce - ie this "publishing standards" implemented at huffington post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/07/citizen-journalism-publis_n_184075.html

agree with jer - this is more than a double-edged sword for GV, could easily become a guillotine good for everybody and everything
